old bones, new snow explores how words and images, poetry and photography, interact and affect one another. After a quarter century on Wall St, where the maxim is “eat what you kill” (and “eat or be eaten”…), Old Bones is my late in life playground.
For the last fifteen years, I’ve been a practitioner of Shambhala Buddhism, so a lot of that seeps in here, especially in the pieces I call “Reflections”, short essays on how meditation practice infiltrates our lives.
In Shambhala, we often refer to “Sacred World.” With grace, some of that comes through in Old Bones, New Snow.

Your photographs & poems are most inspiring! I grew up in Helena, Montana and my heart beats for Big Sky Country. The Centennial Valley is very dear to me. In 2006, I joined the Montana Conservation Corps for 6 months & spent 2 weeks doing trail maintenance on the Continental Divide Trail near Centennial Valley. I felt blessed to be able to see the most breathtakingly beautiful sunrises outside my tent when I woke up each morning. It was a transcendent experience that I’ll never forget. Keep up the excellent work on your blog, my friend!
